How Do Security Companies Protect Your Privacy?
How Do Security Companies Protect Your Privacy? Privacy depends on account permissions, camera placement, recording access and clear provider policies. Ask a company to explain those details for your specific system rather than accepting a broad claim that all footage is completely private.

Establish Who Can Access What
Ask who owns the account, who administers it and which family members, employees or service personnel can access particular functions. Physical access and access to video are different permissions.
For Alarm.com accounts, the platform recommends strong unique passwords, two-factor authentication and separate logins instead of shared credentials. Give each person only the access needed for the task, using supported permissions.
Ask About Service Access
Before installation, ask the provider how technical-support access works, who can review recordings and how access is authorized or removed. Request the applicable written policies.
A company should explain its actual arrangement. Do not assume professional monitoring means continuous viewing, and do not assume local recording eliminates every network or account-access consideration.
Place Cameras With Privacy in Mind
Choose views that serve the security purpose. Avoid collecting unnecessary footage of private areas, and discuss appropriate boundaries with the installer.
For businesses, define who is permitted to review footage and when. Use records with context and established procedures; a clip or credential event should not automatically be treated as proof of employee wrongdoing.
Understand Storage and Retention
Ask where the video is recorded, how long it is expected to remain available, who can export it and how equipment or accounts are handled during a provider change.
SecuriMax installs Alarm.com camera solutions and compatible local recording options. The appropriate design depends on the property's needs and the supported configuration.
My recommendation after more than 30 years working with security systems is to make privacy part of the consultation and handover. Account ownership, permissions and recording access should be understandable before the system becomes part of your daily routine. SecuriMax uses encrytped software and cannot even access your video clips or harddrive recordings without your permission. This gives you full control of all video storage.
